Saipan Humane Society is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in response to animal overpopulation and the need for veterinary services in the CNMI. We are modeled after Guam’s only animal shelter, Guam Animals In Need (GAIN), and their low-cost spay/neuter clinic Spay Neuter Island Pets (SNIP). Similar to GAIN, we believe in strong partnerships with the government and community. We all need to work together to make a difference! We also have roots in Boonie Flight Project, a Guam-based animal welfare organization and dog rescue.

We work closely with the Saipan Dog Control Program team on a daily basis, and could not offer services without their support. We are also appreciative for strong partnerships with GAIN and other veterinarians who guide us in building our program and providing animal health services

About Us

Meet the Team

  • Lauren Cabrera

    FOUNDER

Lauren Cabrera, a Nurse Practitioner, first moved to Saipan in 2012. She later relocated to Guam, where she co-founded the Boonie Flight Project and helped relaunch Guam Animals In Need’s (GAIN) spay/neuter clinic, SNIP.

Upon returning to Saipan, Lauren began collaborating with the Dog Control Program and Boonie Babies Rescue to improve access to spay/neuter services. Recognizing the urgent need for sustainable animal care, she founded the Saipan Humane Society, which quickly grew into a full-scale animal health clinic.

Lauren now works for the Department of Lands and Natural Resources – Animal Health Division while serving as Board President for both Saipan Humane Society and GAIN. She is pursuing a Master’s in Shelter Medicine to further her expertise in animal welfare. In her free time, you’ll find Lauren chasing her toddlers and talking to her parrots!
