What to Do When We Aren’t Open

We want to help your pet as much as possible, but we cannot be open or available 24/7. Our team is too small and we do not have 24/7 access to our clinic space or supplies. We hope to provide expanded hours in the future, as we get more funding and can expand our team.

If your pet is sick:

First please review the suggestions below to stabilize your pet if they are sick.

If they are not improving or you remain concerned, please schedule the next available sick appointment online.

*Note: Please do NOT email, WhatsApp, and Facebook message us about a concern for your pet. We are not checking this routinely. The fastest way to get help for your beloved pet would be to schedule an appointment with us. Thank you!

  • This may be caused by parasites, viruses, and other illnesses.

The most important thing is to keep your pet resting and prevent severe dehydration while waiting for clinic to open.

Do not force feed your pet. However, you can syringe feed some Pedialyte to help them stay hydrated, and rub honey on their gums to keep their blood sugar up.

If your pet will still eat, feed them rice to help slow the diarrhea.

BRING your pet to clinic when we open so we can evaluate them and provide the appropriate care to help their condition.

  • Please bring your pet indoors and restrict their activity, encourage rest.

You may rinse the wound with clean water or water mixed with Epsom salt, and gently remove foreign objects.

DO NOT use soaps, shampoos, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, herbal preparations, tea tree oil, or any other product to clean an open wound, unless specifically instructed to do so by your veterinarian. Some of these products are toxic if taken internally, while others can delay healing.

Prevent your pet from licking or chewing the wound. You may create a “cone” to wear around the neck using a styrofoam plate (small dog, puppy, cat), or a plastic flower pot or ring of pool noodles for a larger dog.

BRING your pet to clinic when we open so we can evaluate them and provide the appropriate wound care and help their condition.

  • Please bring your pet indoors and encourage them to rest. Ensure they have plenty food and water.

Injuries from being hit by a car can range from minor to major, including broken limbs or internal injuries we cannot see.

BRING your pet to clinic when we open so we can evaluate them and offer guidance.

  • If your pet seems to be dying, please bring them inside and keep them comfortable.

If they appear to be suffering, please email us at info@saipanhumanesociety.org and title the email EMERGENCY. We will do our best to help, but given our small team, we are not always available.
